A porter ascending through the 'wedding cake' glacier to the Ampha Lapcha Pass (5845m)

above base camp, aborted our summit bid.

Once back in Santiago, we regrouped and drove east,

into Mendoza province and sampled the wines of

the region, notably the Zorzal and Septima estates.

by C'Mor and me beginning at

Paradise Valley Parking lot

(approx. 26 km rt)

Nigel Pass, on first day of a 6-day backpack,

the summit segment (2598m) of  'E' leg of the Great Divide Trail.

Our campsites were at Four Points, Cline Pass, some flats halfway to Pinto Lake, Pinto Lake, Michelle Lake and out.
